Our partnership with veritree is a flat monthly commitment — not a per-install trigger, not a sometimes-thing. Every month, that commitment funds post-wildfire tree planting and coastal kelp restoration in BC. Here’s where the numbers stand as of fall 2026.
The current totals
Through the veritree Impact Hub dashboard tied to our account:
- 30,000+ trees planted in BC post-wildfire recovery zones
- 23,700+ kelp planted along BC coastal restoration sites
- 53,000+ living things planted in total, and counting
New batches are ordered quarterly and the numbers move up in blocks, not gradually — so the totals here will step forward again in early 2027.
Where they actually go
Post-wildfire trees. BC’s fire seasons over the last decade have left large stretches of interior forest needing active regeneration. The trees veritree plants on our behalf go into recovery zones the province has flagged — Douglas fir, lodgepole pine, western larch depending on the site’s elevation and soil.
Coastal kelp. Kelp forests off BC’s coast have been in decline for years — a mix of warming water, urchin overpopulation, and habitat loss. veritree partners with restoration projects that outplant kelp in areas where the ecosystem can support recovery. Kelp captures carbon at rates that outperform most terrestrial vegetation and rebuilds habitat for fish and shellfish along the way.
BC only. Our commitment is scoped to BC. Not the Amazon, not Madagascar, not offshore reforestation projects with hard-to-verify accounting. Post-wildfire in BC’s interior and kelp along BC’s coast — the places we live and work.
Why we do it flat monthly instead of per-install
The two ways HVAC companies typically partner with reforestation programs are per-install (one tree per system sold) and flat commitment (a fixed monthly or annual amount regardless of install count). We picked the second for a reason.
Per-install sounds good in marketing but produces spiky planting cycles that don’t match how restoration projects actually work. veritree’s planting partners need forecastable funding to plan the next season’s outplant. A flat commitment gives them that. It also means the impact keeps compounding in slow install months — we don’t stop planting because September was quiet.
The trade-off is that our number doesn’t scale as dramatically with sales. That’s fine. The point is the trees are in the ground and the kelp is on the reef, not that our marketing has a bigger stat.
What the next 12 months look like
At current run-rate the account should cross 35,000+ trees and 28,000+ kelp by the end of Q2 2027. We’ll publish another update in the spring with fresh numbers.
